Information used for the visit
A child’s first name, optional pronunciation, and parent notes personalize the conversation. First names, notes, voices, and other information used during the visit are processed by the service providers that deliver the avatar, voice, and conversation. Payment information is handled by the payment provider. These services are part of delivering the experience; the conversation is not processed entirely on your device.
Please provide only a first name and brief, non-sensitive details. Leave out surnames, addresses, schools, and contact information in the child’s notes.
Checking your devices
Check my setup lets you hear a test sound, check your microphone level, and preview your optional camera before Santa starts. This check uses your devices locally without uploading or saving a recording. Device selections may be remembered in this browser. A successful check cannot guarantee a later connection or recording, and you may need to allow device access again after checkout.
Recording and your camera
On supported browsers, the recording includes Santa’s video and the voices of everyone taking part. Your camera picture is included only if you allow camera access. By choosing Start, the parent or guardian agrees to this recording.
The recording stays in the current browser tab until you download it or create a sharing link. Keep the tab visible and the screen unlocked during recording. Closing, refreshing, or leaving the page before saving may lose the local recording. If recording fails, a live conversation may still be possible without a saved video.
Download or share
Download saves a copy on your device without uploading it through this recording feature. Creating a sharing link uploads the recording, including its voices and any camera picture, to our cloud storage. Anyone with the complete link can view or download it for seven days. Share only with people you trust. We do not put these recordings in a public gallery.
Access stops when the link expires. Automated cleanup removes the cloud copy after expiration on the published service. You can remove a shared copy earlier using Link and sharing settings while that original tab is available. A copy someone has downloaded remains on their device after expiration or removal.
Discard removes the local recording from the page. It does not disable a completed sharing link.
Email and messaging
Email lets you enter one recipient and press Send. Mr. Claus House sends a viewing-button email through its email delivery provider, Resend. The provider processes the recipient’s address and the complete private recording link to deliver the message. Our application stores hashed delivery records to limit repeated sends; email delivery records may also be retained by the provider. Addresses entered here are used for the requested sharing email, not added to a marketing list. The link keeps its original seven-day expiry. Copy link lets you send through your own app instead. Text is offered on supported phones and tablets and opens your messaging app; phone numbers entered in that app are not received by this sharing feature.
